Models from 27 Asian Countries Appointed to Honorary Ambassadors for Korea.

- The Visit Korea Committee has appointed “K-Friends,” honorary ambassadors for the 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year, at final round of the Asia Model Festival.


 

At the 2017 Asia Model Festival “Face of Asia” taking place in Jangchung Arena, Seoul, on Friday, June 23 at 7 pm, the Visit Korea Committee (chaired by Park Sam-koo) appointed models representing 27 Asian countries to “K-Friends,” who, as honorary ambassadors, are tasked with promoting the 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year.

The “Face of Asia” is an annual contest where models who have won their respective national preliminary rounds undergo the final round. This year, as the 12th event, it was participated by about 100 models from 27 Asian countries, including Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand.

During a pre-mission in Korea to be picked out as K-Friends, they carried out promotional activities for the 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year campaign and for the KOREA TOUR CARD by showing how to use theKOREA TOUR CARD in Korean tours: They enjoyed famous tourist attractions, shopping, and Korea Wave content using this card and posted such experiences on their social media pages. The KOREA TOUR CARD has been released by the Visit Korea Year for exclusive use by foreign tourists.

At this awards ceremony, the most excellent performers were granted the title of K-Friends who represent their respective 27 Asian countries. These new appointees will make efforts to publicize various charms of Korea—culture, tours, K-Wave, and beauty—and make known the 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year in their countries.

“This event will serve as a chance to promote the 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year all over Asia,” said Jeong Ju-yeong, the head of the committee’s Marketing Team. “We expect the new appointees will play a pivotal role in helping many more foreign tourists visit Korea and therein leave pleasant memories.”
