On May 30, the Visit Korea Committee (chaired by Park Sam-koo) held a conference at the Seoul Foreign Press Center Korea for foreign reporters who were visiting Korea to produce a documentary about Korea.

Aiming to inform the foreign reporters about diverse charms and aspects of Korea as a tourist destination, this conference introduced the 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year and its programs conducted in line with the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The conference was co-convened with the Korean Culture and Information Service and attended by eight reporters from three broadcasting companies based in Sweden, Brazil, and Turkey. The Visit Korea Committee briefed on main programs of the second year of 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year and then was asked questions about them. These programs included the K-Smile Campaign (having a particular focus on the PyeongChang Winter Olympics in this year), Korea Grand Sale, and KOREA TOUR CARD.

From Sunday, May 21 to Friday, June 3, for their coverage, the foreign reporters plan to visit major tourist attractions and particularly facilities involved in the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games: the Korea Institute of Sport Science, PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, Alpensia Sports Park, Changdeokgung Palace, World IT Show 2017, Jeongseon Arirang Culture Foundation, Gangneung Danoje Festival, and Gangneung Coastal Cluster—all are in Seoul City and Gangwon Province.

“We expect these documentaries will play a positive role to highlight charms of Korean tours, hence contributing to attracting more foreign tourists,” remarked Visit Korea Committee Secretary-General Han Kyung-ah. “The committee will continue its promotional efforts to help foreign reporters have better understanding of Korea,” she added.
