- Promotion Begins at 2017 Seoul International Travel Mart Targeting More than 1,200 Domestic and Overseas Tourist Agencies

- The KOREA TOUR CARD has sold over 100,000 copies for 7 months since its release in late January

The Visit Korea Committee (chaired by Park Sam-koo) starts to promote the KOREA TOUR CARD to over 1,200 companies in the tourism industry from home and abroad at the 2017 Seoul International Travel Mart (SITM), which opens on September 11.

The 2017 SITM, jointly hosted by the Visit Korea Committee, the Seoul Metropolitan Government, and the Korea Association of Travel Agents, will held from September 11 to 15 (FRI) with various official events including the opening ceremony, travel mart, exhibition and promotion booths, a welcoming banquet, and familiarization tours.

The committee has organized its booth to promote the campaign for the 2016–2018 Visit Korea Year to domestic and overseas travel agencies attending the 2017 SITM. It will provide consultation on the KOREA TOUR CARD, a tourist transit pass exclusively for non-Korean visitors, and also have a presentation session for about 400 buyers from 50 different countries who develop Korea tour packages.

After its release in January, the KOREA TOUR CARD has sold more than 100,000 copies only in seven months, attracting attention from foreign visitors. The committee will discuss with foreign buyers at the 2017 SITM on how to help tourists purchase and find the information about the card when they prepare for their trip to Korea.

“The 2017 SITM will serve as the best opportunity for tourism business to introduce the KOREA TOUR CARD at home and abroad,” said Visit Korea Committee Secretary-General Han Kyung-ah. “We will continue to carry out diverse marketing activities targeting a wide range of markets in South East Asia, Europe, and the US, as well as Japan and China, so that travelers can think of this tourist pass as one of the must-buys for a trip in Korea.”

The committee has exerted efforts with a variety of activities to promote the KOREA TOUR CARD by linking it with Korea tour packages in cooperation with the overseas offices of the Korea Tourism Organization, conducting joint promotion programs with five cities in the Seoul metropolitan area, and holding a business presentation meeting for local governments in August. The committee is planning to attend various domestic and overseas tourism fairs to popularize the KOREA TOUR CARD and conduct promotion and sales activities along with tourism agencies. It will also explore more benefits offered in non-metropolitan regions and develop new recommendable travel routes by collaborating with local governments, thereby enabling tourists to visit other cities outside Seoul by simply using the KOREA TOUR CARD.
