Recommendation Kyesan Catholic Church, which is one of Korea’s three main catholic church, has both architectural and historic significance. Tourists can visit the inside of the church, except when mass is being held. Dongsan Cheongna Hill near the church is fondly known as Daegu’s Montmartre. Three houses built there by missionaries create an exotic atmosphere that is rather atypical of Korea.

Recommendation The houses of the poet Yi Sang-hwa and the independence activist Seo Sang-don, representative figures of Korea’s modern history, are located in the modern alley. Walking through the alley surrounded by modern Korean style buildings which are mixes of eastern and western-style, unlike the Western-style modern architecture built by missionaries will make you feel like you've traveled back in time to the 1900s.

Recommendation After returning your hanbok, you can wrap up your tour at Smiley Braised Beef Short Ribs, one of Daegu’s Top Ten restaurants. This famous restaurant started out as a small street vendor some 63 years ago but it has transformed the whole alley into a street specializing in delicious beef ribs. The ribs are braised with a garlic sauce in an aluminum pot with excellent heat conductivity, giving them a delicious tender texture and rich flavor.
