A chicken which was seasoned by galics, gochujang and onions is roasted on charcoal fire, this is Chuncheon-style Spicy Stir-fried Chicken. You can smell the charcoal at the surface of chicken but it's chewy because of gravy. Instead of charcoal you can roast the chicken on the thick iron plate and enjoy fried rice on that plate. We recommed to someone who are not familiar to garlic or spicy food to eat stir- fried chicken which was seasoned only by salt and soy sauce. It will be great to eat with korean traditional alcohol, Makgeoli, and commonly in Chuncheon people enjoy to eat Makguksu with it. |

We named all of the food that we eat at temple "Temple food", they don't use meat, usually make their food with corn and vegetable. They don't use pungent spice then you can enjoy original ingredients' texture. Furthermore, the temple food receive high esteem woldwidely because there are various recipes that fill a vacancy of protein. If you have temple stay at Pyeonchang Woljeongsa and Sokcho Sinheungsa you can taste it. |

To cook a Hwangtae, you have to cut it in half and pull out thorns, cut it into bite-sized pieces, then seasoning that with red-pepper paste. Hwangtae is unusual on the method of how to dry it. In the Kangwon mountain region where the temperature drops below minus 10 degrees in the winter, Hwangtae repeats freezing and melting all over the winter, and then finally it becomes Hwangtae. If you do not like spicy food, I recommend ‘Hwangtae Hangover Soup.’ Dried Pollack has been used as a material of Hangover Soup from old times because it has excellent detoxification function. |

The 'Abai Sundae' is made by adding glutinous rice, dried radish greens, etc., in pork tripe, and steamed it. During the Korean War, the people who came to Sokcho from Hamkyeong province ate it missing their hometown. The name ‘Abai’ is originated from Hamkyeong province dialect of 'father'. Squid is common food ingredient in Sokcho, so people started to use squid instead of pork tripe to make Sundae, and then it became the current 'squid sundae.' Both are enough to eat for a meal, and the texture of food is excellent. |

Gondeure bap made by gondeure which was grown up at the location over altitude of 700m. After blanching the gondeure in boiling water put it into spicy and sweet sauce and eat it. You can regulate the taste of the sauce as you prefer, so if you don't like something spicy you can taste it without some sauce. The texture of gondeure is soft, and even though it contains a lot of nutrients such as protein, vitamin and calcium the calory of this food is so low that anyone can enjoy it. |

Hwacheon, which is famous for clean water in Korea is crowding in winter because of ''Hwacheon Sancheneo Ice festival" which opend from January to Feburary. You can enjoy fishing Sancheoneo at the small ice hole and you can taste the fish you got. Usually people eat sancheneo raw because they are living in first class water but for the people who do not like eating fish raw they will treat you with grilled Sancheoneo. |
